ADIRA

Adira is a survivor-led mental health and well-being service that supports Black individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The organisation delivers culturally appropriate, culturally competent, and person-centred services that take an innovative, outside-the-box approach to care.

Practices

One of the key ways Adira serves the community is through its Self-Care Hub — a one-stop shop designed to meet the needs of the Black community, particularly those impacted by the cost of living crisis.

Within the hub, Adira provides clothing, shoes, a social café, culturally appropriate meals, a toy station, a computer suite, and access to a Citizen’s Advice First Point of Contact screen. The hub also offers culturally appropriate skin and haircare products — including Black hair extensions — alongside essential household and cleaning supplies.
