Sheffield Food Chain

Established in 2023, Sheffield Food Chain are a charity focused on reducing food waste and supporting those facing food poverty in Sheffield. Based at Cemetery Road Baptist Church, their volunteers cook nutritious vegetarian and vegan meals using surplus food donated to them by local wholefood traders Beanies and Le Crunch.

Practices

They collect food by e-cargo bike, cook from scratch, and deliver meals across the city, including Arbourthorne, Abbeydale, Burngreave, Sharrow, and Nether Edge. They also support the Open Kitchen Social Club by transporting vegetable surplus to their kitchens weekly and occasionally share extra produce with St Mary’s Church. In partnership with charities and organisations such as Family Voice, Sayit, St Mary’s Church, Shelter, and Shipshape, they assist those facing the greatest barriers to food and financial support in Sheffield.
