Building Community at the Little Sheffield Festival

Our friends at Can Do South Yorkshire have highlighted our work in creating the Little Sheffield Festival in one of their success stories. Held in September 2021, the Little Sheffield Feast was a free street party to celebrate local food, drink, music and history. An amazing day and joint effort from Food HallFood WorksShipShape Health and WellbeingYes2VenturesRegather and ShefFood.

While it was a seemingly small event, the impact it had was amazing. Bringing together Sheffield organisations and residents, this celebration of our local community was a standout part of our year. With delicious food and drink, music from local artists and plenty of dancing, chatting and laughter, we’d have to say the whole event was a great success.

Here’s a snippet from the Can Do South Yorkshire article:

The local community was invited to attend, enjoy a free meal, meet their neighbours and celebrate local food, drink, music and history. They wanted to recognise the amazing work done by local food organisations over the last 18 months, facing unprecedented challenges, from the pandemic to Brexit supply chain issues and climate change. From the local gardening volunteers wanting to connect with the production and growing of their food and to do something positive to benefit the local area and community, to the organisations who have been working so hard to keep people fed during a pandemic, particularly marginalised communities around Sheffield – there is so much to celebrate and applaud.

After the struggles of the previous year, it was awesome to celebrate together in the sun. We are excited to organise more events like this with our partners in 2022.
