The Sheffield Food Partnership (ShefFood) are incredibly excited to invite you to the launch of the Local Food Action Plan for Sheffield! Over the past 3 months, ShefFood has been building on the vision formed in Sheffield City Council’s Food Strategy ‘Fairer, Healthier, Greener’ to create a multi-stakeholder food action plan for Sheffield. The first stage is complete, and we want to celebrate this achievement with everyone who loves sustainable food in our fair city!
What it’s all about
ShefFood, in collaboration with FixOurFood, has co-created an action plan with almost 100 organisations in the city. Through a series of 12 workshops, we have written and co-developed the action plan, which addresses five key pillars of a good local food system: food provision, food production, the food economy, health and wellbeing, and the good food movement.
The action plan sets out specific commitments to action from diverse organisations across the city; over the next 7 years, these actions will take Sheffield’s food system on a journey to becoming fairer and more sustainable for the people of Sheffield and the planet as a whole. We are hosting a launch party in the heart of the city to celebrate the hard work of our partner organisations and the creation of this impressive and ambitious action plan.
But it’s not just for those involved so far; the Launch Event is a fantastic opportunity for anyone to get involved now and learn more about the Local Food Action Plan. This is about transforming the city’s local food system, which involves everyone in the city, from institutions like the Universities and Sheffield City Council all the way through to workers on the ground, neighbours down the road and you, a resident of Sheffield.
The Launch Event
Our launch event will be held on Thursday, 15th June 2023, from 5:30 pm. Hosted in Victoria Hall on Norfolk Street in Sheffield City Centre (S1 2JB), we’ll be hosting a panel discussion and Q&A about the action plan. The panel will include our own Partnership Coordinator, Selina Treuherz, Jess Wilson (Sheffield City Council Lead for Food & Public Health), Lyds Leather (VAS Community Development Coordinator), and Gareth Roberts (Regather Co-Founder). Following the discussion, we invite you to stay for a delicious pay-as-you-feel community meal.
