Our Cow Molly

We have been a Dairy Farm since 1947 delivering fresh dairy products to folk in Sheffield for over 70 years. Our cows graze a 200 acres of pasture (I believe the modern phrase is carbon sink) 5 miles from the centre of Sheffield. Our hillside isn’t suitable to grow crops but perfect for growing grass to produce milk. We work closely with University of Sheffield on many projects.

Practices

We are using our cows & grazing methods to increase the carbon we can store in the soil of our 200 acre grassland by 20% (With help from University of Sheffield)

We are installing one of Sheffield’s largest farm solar panel setups, importantly on the roof of our new barn so no loss of land, the power will hopefully go to produce Green Hydrogen for Sheffield’s future transport & medical grade oxygen
for the hospitals.

We host the University of Sheffield’s H3 project Polytunnels on the farm which grow leafy greens with 90% less water & are unaffected by climate.

We plan to capture all the methane from the cow muck & use it instead of fossil fuels to power the entire farm.

We can farm without fossil fuels, while producing nutrient dense food from grass that everyday takes carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere & fixes it in the soil, & further enhance that with the cows by a further 20%.

We are in a trial with a rotating solar panel manufacturer to showcase rotating solar panels to all farm visitors, they harvest 20% more energy because they always face the sun.
