Sheffield Community Land Trust (SCLT) is a community-led organisation committed to providing genuinely affordable housing and workspaces in Sheffield through community ownership and development. It aims to achieve this by delivering projects that bring land and existing buildings into community ownership, transforming them into affordable, high-quality, and low-carbon homes, social spaces, cultural venues, and workspaces.
Practices
SCLT operates as a democratic, member-owned organisation, underpinned by a non-profit ownership and development model. Central to its mission is working alongside the people of Sheffield and partnering with local organisations to build a mutually supportive community that resists displacement and protects local interests.
SCLT believes that community ownership and development offer powerful tools to empower local people and tackle the pressing challenges of housing affordability, environmental sustainability, and community wealth-building.
