We are pleased to invite you to the March meeting of the ShefFood Growing and Composting Working Group, a collaborative forum for Sheffield’s food-growers, gardeners, educators, and composting practitioners.
This month we will have a composting focus.
Key question: “How do we build a sustainable composting culture in Sheffield?”
We will start by outlining the current picture with regards to national composting and waste disposal legislation – and upcoming changes. We will then ask what does this mean for Sheffield? Hounslow/ Liverpool will be used as case studies/ examples of best practice from across the UK.
Presentations will cover relevant topics such as a brief history of composting in Sheffield, different composting methods, and the role of private businesses/ social enterprise in addressing local need for composting provision.
We then intend to discuss the SCC food waste collection trial, followed by an opportunity to share ideas and plan some collective action.
We want to encourage participants to bring a jar of compost from home/ their growing site, alongside their composting top tips and tricks!
Let us know if you have any further questions about the event and email [email protected] to let us know you are coming.
Thanks so much!
